Still Part of the Body
Discernment VS Judgement. A Call Back to Love and Unity
Within the Body of Christ, we are commanded to love one another deeply, to bear one another’s burdens, and to walk in patience, humility, and compassion. Yet in recent years, a quiet but growing form of discrimination has crept into the Church—one that alienates believers who have encountered healing through methods others do not understand, including the careful and prayerful use of certain indigenous medicines.
What should be a conversation marked by discernment and humility has too often become a space filled with assumptions, suspicion, hostility and judgement. Instead of testing everything—as Scripture instructs—many judge without seeking understanding. Instead of making a right judgment, as Jesus commanded, we often fall into “judging by mere appearances” (John 7:24).
Acknowledging Irresponsible Practices—Without Condemning the Innocent
It is true that the medicine world is full of irresponsible practices. Some approach these substances carelessly, without integrity, accountability, or regard for spiritual consequence. There are people who use these tools to reinforce loss, confusion, or darkness.
Yet in His great love, the Lord is perfectly capable of reaching into those very places and raising someone up—not to blend into the shadows, but to be a light within them. He redeems what the enemy attempted to corrupt, and through that redeemed vessel, people are led not into deception but into Christ Himself.
And still, because this journey includes tools many Christians do not understand—or because someone once held sage in their hands—some believers cannot see past the appearance long enough to witness the fruit. Jesus told us to judge a tree by its fruit, not by the cultural assumptions surrounding its leaves.
It is tragic when Heaven celebrates a prodigal returning home, yet parts of the Church reject them because their road back looked unfamiliar.
The Kingdom Is Bigger Than Cultural Expectations
The Kingdom of God has never been about outward appearances, cultural norms, or human-made categories.
“For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.”— Romans 14:17
It is entirely possible to disagree without dividing, to question without condemning, and to explore without crucifying one another.
When any part of the Body is shamed or pushed aside, the entire Body suffers. Paul reminds us, “If one part suffers, every part suffers with it” (1 Corinthians 12:26). And no one has the authority to declare another believer “not part of the Body” simply because their testimony challenges traditional expectations.
A Reminder to the Church
The truth remains:
I’m still part of the Body.
Those who walk a path of healing are still part of the Body.
Those who seek Jesus sincerely—even if their story includes tools others misunderstand—are still part of the Body.
Before we cast stones, God asks us to examine our own hearts. Before we label a brother or sister as deceived, He asks us to discern with humility. Before we reject a member of Christ’s Body, He reminds us that Jesus is the Head—not us.
